of Clay Tye, a 198MWh battery energy storage system<\/li>\n<li>It is one of the UK\u2019s largest battery storage plants in development by MWh<\/li>\n<li>Clay Tye uses 52 Tesla Megapack lithium-ion batteries along with Tesla\u2019s Autobidder AI software for energy capacity exchange and efficient project management<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Global renewable energy business, <a href=\"https:\/\/frv.com\/en\">Fotowatio Renewable Ventures<\/a> (FRV), part of <a href=\"https:\/\/alj.com\/energy\">Abdul Latif Jameel Energy<\/a>, and UK developer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.harmonyenergy.co.uk\/\">Harmony Energy<\/a>, have announced the initial construction of Clay Tye, one of the UK\u2019s largest battery storage projects in development.<\/p>\n<p>The Clay Tye site is located in Essex and will have a total power of 99 MW \/ 198 MWh, making it one of the largest projects of its kind under construction in the UK.\u00a0 Clay Tye follows the successful completion of FRV and Harmony Energy\u2019s West-Sussex based battery storage facility, <a href=\"https:\/\/alj.com\/en\/news\/abdul-latif-jameel-energy-supports-development-of-second-utility-scale-battery-storage-project-in-uk\/\">Contego<\/a>, which has a capacity of 34 MW \/ 68 MWh.\u00a0 It also follows the completion of FRV\u2019s Dorset-based <a href=\"https:\/\/alj.com\/en\/in-the-news\/frv-switches-on-15-mwh-energy-storage-system-in-uk\/\">Holes Bay<\/a> battery energy storage project, which has a capacity of 7.5 MW \/ 15 MWh.<\/p>\n<p>The project reflects FRV\u2019s long-term investment plan to develop energy storage projects globally in countries like Australia, Mexico, Chile and Spain.<\/p>\n<p>Clay Tye uses 52 Tesla Megapack lithium-ion batteries along with Tesla\u2019s Autobidder AI software for energy capacity exchange and efficient project management.\u00a0 Megapack batteries have a capacity of 15 MWh and are connected to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssen.co.uk\/Home\/\">Southern Electric Power<\/a>\u00a0distribution network, providing the capability to store energy from renewable sources and afford peak-time flexibility to the UK\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalgrideso.com\/\">National Grid<\/a>\u00a0as part of the UK\u2019s continuing shift away from fossil fuels.<\/p>\n<p>Both FRV and Harmony Energy expect the BESS plant to be finished and operational during the first quarter of 2023. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/alj.com\/en\/our-people\/fady-jameel\/\">Fady Jameel<\/a>, Deputy President and Vice Chairman, Abdul Latif Jameel, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201c<em>We are always looking for energy system that is more sustainable, secure and affordable.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/felipe-hernandez-fernandez-3212612b\/\">Felipe Hern\u00e1ndez<\/a>, FRV Managing Director of Engineering and FRV-X has stated:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>\u201cClay Tye<\/em> <em>is going to be a significant milestone in our growth objective in the UK energy storage market.\u00a0 This BESS strengthens the long-term sustainability of our business model and our leadership position in the market.\u00a0 In this way, we are continuing the path for the future FRV\u2019s assets in the country, which are in the commercial operation, construction and development phase.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/peter-kavanagh-6a56b052\/\">Peter Kavanagh<\/a>, Harmony Energy CEO, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201c<em>This is another significant milestone in our
