{"id":118861,"date":"2024-11-20T09:14:57","date_gmt":"2024-11-20T09:14:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/alj.com\/?post_type=news&#038;p=118861"},"modified":"2024-11-20T09:19:34","modified_gmt":"2024-11-20T09:19:34","slug":"jameel-energy-welcomes-spanish-governments-funding-to-support-development-of-battery-energy-storage-systems","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/alj.com\/en\/news\/jameel-energy-welcomes-spanish-governments-funding-to-support-development-of-battery-energy-storage-systems\/","title":{"rendered":"Jameel Energy welcomes Spanish government\u2019s funding to support development of Battery Energy Storage Systems"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/frv.com\/en\">Fotowatio Renewable Ventures<\/a> (FRV), a leading developer of sustainable energy solutions and <a href=\"https:\/\/alj.com\/en\/energy-and-environmental-services\/energy-overview\/\">Jameel Energy<\/a> have welcomed the <a href=\"https:\/\/sede.idae.gob.es\/tramites-servicios\/convocatoria-de-ayudas-para-proyectos-innovadores-de-almacenamiento-electrico\">announcement<\/a> by the Spanish government that it is awarding EUR 163.646 million (US $ 172.8 million) towards the development of new, innovative energy storage projects in Spain.<\/p>\n<p>FRV has been officially awarded government funding for three battery energy storage systems (BESS) in:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Figueres \u2013 Barcelona \u2013 Stand-alone storage \u2013 49 MW \u2013 196 MWh<\/li>\n<li>Camarreal \u2013 Cantabria &#8211; Stand-alone storage \u2013 50 MW \u2013 200 MWh<\/li>\n<li>Palau \u2013 Barcelona &#8211; Stand-alone storage \u2013 20 MW \u2013 80 MWh<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The funding will help develop a total of 805.55 MWh of storage capacity with 24 of the initiatives related to thermal systems and 35 projects offering stand-alone systems totaling 690.2 MWh.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-118862\" src=\"https:\/\/media.alj.com\/app\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Spanish-Government-Logos.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"811\" height=\"127\" srcset=\"https:\/\/media.alj.com\/app\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Spanish-Government-Logos.png 613w, https:\/\/media.alj.com\/app\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Spanish-Government-Logos-300x47.png 300w, https:\/\/media.alj.com\/app\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Spanish-Government-Logos-150x23.png 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 811px) 100vw, 811px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>FRV continues its pioneering efforts to guarantee clean, round-the-clock energy to communities around the world. Crucially, it is also ensuring renewable energy supplies are as reliable as power derived from traditional plants.<\/p>\n<p>FRV\u2019s utility-scale <a href=\"https:\/\/alj.com\/en\/perspective\/storing-a-sustainable-energy-solution\/\">battery storage (BESS) plants<\/a> act as repositories for energy from renewable sources, ready for deployment whenever needed by homes and businesses, these include BESS plants across the UK at <a href=\"https:\/\/alj.com\/en\/news\/abdul-latif-jameel-energys-frv-energizes-contego-battery-energy-storage-plant\/\">Contego,<\/a> West Sussex; <a href=\"https:\/\/alj.com\/en\/news\/abdul-latif-jameel-energys-frv-achieves-financial-close-with-natwest-for-its-holes-bay-battery-project-in-the-uk\/\">Holes Bay<\/a>, Dorset; and <a href=\"https:\/\/alj.com\/en\/news\/abdul-latif-jameel-energys-frv-and-harmony-energy-begin-construction-of-one-the-uks-largest-battery-storage-projects\/\">Clay Tye<\/a>, Essex \u2013 this last one recently inaugurated as Europe\u2019s joint largest in operation.<\/p>\n<p>Further afield, it also runs a hybrid solar and BESS plant at <a href=\"https:\/\/alj.com\/en\/news\/abdul-latif-jameel-energys-frv-announces-first-hybrid-pv-solar-storage-project-in-australia\/\">Dalby<\/a>, Queensland, Australia, and continues to grow its portfolio, purchasing a majority stake in a BESS project in <a href=\"https:\/\/alj.com\/en\/news\/abdul-latif-jameel-energys-frv-acquires-majority-stake-in-one-of-the-largest-battery-energy-storage-systems-in-greece\/\">Greece<\/a> alongside two additional <a href=\"https:\/\/alj.com\/en\/news\/abdul-latif-jameel-energys-frv-to-acquire-two-new-battery-energy-storage-projects-in-the-uk\/\">BESS projects<\/a> in the UK in autumn 2022, establishing their <a href=\"https:\/\/alj.com\/en\/news\/frv-establishes-new-permanent-uk-base-as-battery-energy-storage-system-projects-continue-to-be-developed\/\">BESS Center of Excellence in the country<\/a>. In 2024, FRV established a local partnership to enter the Nordic renewables storage market with a BESS at <a href=\"https:\/\/alj.com\/en\/news\/frv-and-amp-tank-partner-for-first-joint-battery-energy-storage-60-mwh-project-in-finland\/\">Simo,
