{"id":15292,"date":"2018-07-01T07:56:17","date_gmt":"2018-07-01T07:56:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.alj.com\/en\/?post_type=news&#038;p=15292"},"modified":"2021-05-26T05:42:58","modified_gmt":"2021-05-26T05:42:58","slug":"abdul-latif-jameel-provide-state-art-spinal-treatment-technology-saudi-arabia","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/alj.com\/en\/news\/abdul-latif-jameel-provide-state-art-spinal-treatment-technology-saudi-arabia\/","title":{"rendered":"Abdul Latif Jameel to provide state-of-the-art spinal treatment technology in Saudi Arabia"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>Robotic \u2018Hybrid Assistive Limb\u2019 approved for use in Saudi Arabia<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Technology to be introduced by Abdul Latif Jameel and CYBERDYNE, Inc. following MOU signed in 2017<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Medical Hybrid Assistive Limb (HAL), a revolutionary robot treatment device for spinal injuries, has been approved for use in Saudi Arabia.<\/p>\n<p>The launch follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Abdul Latif Jameel and Japanese company CYBERDYNE, Inc, during King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud\u2019s visit to Japan last year, to bring the state-of-the-art technology to Saudi Arabia.<\/p>\n<p>Medical HAL is a form of robotic technology that can regenerate, improve, support and expand patients\u2019 brain-neuro-physical functions. The device is available at Abdul Latif Jameel Hospital in Jeddah, which specializes in medical rehabilitation, with plans to roll-out the technology across the country.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Youssef Abdelrahman, Managing Director of Abdul Latif Jameel Hospital, said: \u201cBy bringing this highly advanced <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alj.com\/en\/in-the-news\/abdul-latif-jameel-bring-revolutionary-spinal-treatment-technology-saudi-arabia\/\">spinal treatment technology<\/a> to Saudi Arabia, we are making sure patients who have suffered some of the most traumatic injuries will get the best possible care available.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe approval from the Saudi Food and Drug Authority for the launch of HAL in Saudi Arabia is truly welcome news. The approval follows the successful completion of the test phase and \u00a0means the people of Saudi Arabia now have access to this state-of-the-art technology.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year Saudi Arabia and Japan agreed to boost cooperation and joint projects between the two countries, including in healthcare. Healthcare is also one of the main focus areas of Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to improve the quality of care and services provided to patients.<\/p>\n<p>More than 13,000 people suffered traumatic spinal injuries in Saudi Arabia in 2015, according to official Saudi government
