{"id":1862,"date":"2016-11-22T07:17:34","date_gmt":"2016-11-22T07:17:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/alj.corp.staging.omniaconnect.net\/en\/?post_type=news&#038;p=1862"},"modified":"2020-10-01T10:55:35","modified_gmt":"2020-10-01T10:55:35","slug":"entrepreneurship-award-to-bab-rizq-jameel","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/alj.com\/en\/news\/entrepreneurship-award-to-bab-rizq-jameel\/","title":{"rendered":"HH Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktoum gives Entrepreneurship Award to Bab Rizq Jameel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) in Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum today presented an award to Bab Rizq Jameel as the \u2018Best Initiative to Support Entrepreneurship in the Arab World\u2019, recognising its achievement in job creation across the Middle East.<\/p>\n<p>Described as a business with a social purpose, Bab Rizq Jameel (BRJ) \u2013 meaning \u201cbeautiful gateway to prosperity\u201d in Arabic \u2013 was established in 2003 by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alj.com\/en\/our-people\/mohammed-abdul-latif-jameel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mohammed Jameel<\/a>, President of the ALJ Group, to help generate more employment opportunities, initially in Saudi Arabia. Operating at a local level, BRJ\u2019s main activities focus on identifying job opportunities, providing relevant skills and training to individual job seekers and granting microfinance loans to establish new entrepreneurial businesses.<\/p>\n<p>Since establishment, it has expanded across the region through an extensive branch network, successfully helping to create over 320,000 jobs across the region \u2013 100,000 of them in this year alone.<\/p>\n<p>Accepting the award on behalf of BRJ, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alj.com\/en\/our-people\/mohammed-abdul-latif-jameel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mohammed Jameel<\/a>, Chief Job Creating Officer for BRJ MENA, said: \u201cBRJ is one simple, grassroots solution to the problem of unemployment that has, from small beginnings, begun to make a significant difference to lives of thousands across the region. Ultimately it is creating a business model that empowers people, giving them control over their lives and a stake in their future.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis recognition is an honour and a testament to the hard-work and dedication of everyone involved with BRJ, and I am delighted to accept it on their behalf. I hope in time that we will see competitors emerge in the business of job creation. More competitors means more jobs, and the region needs more employment opportunities as populations continue to grow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Today there is a team of more than 700 fulltime job creators, working from more than 36 BRJ branches in the Arab world and Turkey. The ultimate plan is to help create 500,000 jobs<\/p>\n<p>annually in the Arab countries and Turkey, through a team of 2,000 job creators distributed amongst 200 branches in those
