{"id":39575,"date":"2019-06-24T07:13:38","date_gmt":"2019-06-24T07:13:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.alj.com\/news\/toyota-du-maroc-advances-use-hybrid-cars-cop22\/"},"modified":"2020-11-18T09:14:03","modified_gmt":"2020-11-18T09:14:03","slug":"toyota-du-maroc-advances-use-hybrid-cars-cop22","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/alj.com\/en\/news\/toyota-du-maroc-advances-use-hybrid-cars-cop22\/","title":{"rendered":"Toyota Du Maroc advances the use of hybrid cars at COP22"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Executives and team members from Toyota Du Maroc \u2013 part of Abdul Latif Jameel Motors \u2013 attended November\u2019s COP22 meeting in Marrakesh, Morocco, to promote the use of hybrid vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>Two key environmental initiatives were agreed.<\/p>\n<p>Toyota Du Maroc signed a three-year agreement with Wafa Assurance, the number one insurer in Morocco, to provide Wafa customers with a hybrid vehicle as a replacement car if theirs is immobilised for repair following an accident. Wafa will use a fleet of 80 Toyota hybrid cars.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/193365113\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-602\" src=\"https:\/\/alj.com\/app\/uploads\/2019\/06\/US-Ambassador-to-Morocco-Web.jpg\" sizes=\"(max-width: 752px) 100vw, 752px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/alj.com\/app\/uploads\/2019\/06\/US-Ambassador-to-Morocco-Web.jpg 752w, https:\/\/alj.com\/ar\/openingdoors\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/US-Ambassador-to-Morocco-Web-300x142.jpg 300w, https:\/\/alj.com\/ar\/openingdoors\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/US-Ambassador-to-Morocco-Web-179x85.jpg 179w, https:\/\/alj.com\/ar\/openingdoors\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/US-Ambassador-to-Morocco-Web-374x178.jpg 374w\" alt=\"us-ambassador-to-morocco-web\" \/><br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nThe Toyota hybrid cars were also used to transport congressmen for free during COP22. They were available via a special view on the Uber app. More than 12,000 trips were taken during the event, reducing CO2 emissions while exposing riders to the benefits of hybrid vehicle technology.<\/p>\n<p>The second initiative was the launch of <em>UberGREEN<\/em> during COP22, with a fleet of Uber taxis solely comprised of Toyota Prius and RAV4 hybrid vehicles available for both COP22 participants and local residents.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-504\" hybrid vehicle technology, support the Moroccan government\u2019s green initiatives and bring the best of new technology to Moroccan consumers.<\/p>\n<p>It was also announced that future finance legislation in Morocco will exempt all hybrid and electric vehicles from the annual road tax.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-505\"
