Abdul Latif Jameel Energy further enhanced its position as one of the world\u2019s leading producers of renewable energy when Chief Executive Roberto de Diego Arozamena took a prominent role at MIREC WEEK<\/a>, Mexico\u2019s leading clean energy congress and exhibition.<\/p>\n

Mr Arozamena joined 1,500 attendees and 197 speakers over the five-day event in Mexico City.\u00a0 He was part of an expert panel which concluded that Mexico\u2019s established and continuous renewable energy<\/a> program will be an increasingly attractive investment market as some environmental policies elsewhere in the region may give rise to uncertainty.<\/p>\n

\u201cMIREC is an excellent forum with high level participants that share experience and views on how to best address the significant renewable energy opportunities that Mexico\u2019s program offers.\u00a0 Mexico is an important market for us and it was a pleasure to participate and share international experiences with Government officials and colleagues in the industry.\u201d<\/em>\u00a0 Roberto commented at the event.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

MIREC WEEK remains the largest marketplace and networking platform for Mexico\u2019s clean energy sector.\u00a0 Executives, thought leaders and decision-makers gathered alongside representatives from the financial sector; industry experts; government representatives; leading developers, technology and service providers; and electric vehicle experts.<\/p>\n

Attendees at this year\u2019s event included Felipe Calder\u00f3n, former President of Mexico; Dr Jeremy Leggett, Founder of Solarcentury and Solaraid; and Danny Kennedy, Managing Director of California Clean Energy Fund (CALCEF).<\/p>\n

Through Fotowatio Renewable Ventures (FRV), a leading global developer of utility-scale solar power plants, Abdul Latif Jameel Energy is already making significant progress in delivering clean energy across Mexico.\u00a0 In November 2016, it was awarded a 300 MW solar project in the country\u2019s second electricity market auction conducted by the National Energy Control Center (CENACE) of Mexico.<\/p>\n

The photovoltaic plant \u2013 called Potos\u00ed Solar, after its location in San Lu\u00eds de Potos\u00ed \u2013 will be operational in 2019.\u00a0 It will supply approximately 76,000 homes and eliminate almost 98 million tons of CO2<\/sub> emissions.<\/p>\n

Abdul Latif Jameel Energy\u2019s FRV continues to be actively investing in the Middle East. \u00a0In May 2017, it started construction on two of the largest solar PV projects in Jordan.\u00a0 Between them, the Mafraq I and Mafraq II plants will provide clean energy for 80,000 homes.<\/p>\n
