“Air-mobility solutions could transform commutes, package delivery, and other mundane tasks in ways that would have seemed impossible only a few years ago, producing repercussions that go far beyond transport,” says a recent report from McKinsey & Company.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Jameel Investment Management Company (JIMCO)<\/a>, our investment arm, recently announced its participation in a Series C round of funding for Joby Aviation<\/a>, an US-based start-up developing a piloted, all-electric, vertical take-off and landing aircraft to provide air taxi services in key cities across the globe.<\/p>\n

JIMCO joined the round as a new investor alongside\u00a0Toyota Motor Corporation<\/a>\u00a0(TMC), a long-term business partner of Abdul Latif Jameel, and lead investor in Joby\u2019s Series C funding, and\u00a0Baillie Gifford<\/a>.<\/a>\u00a0Adding to new and prior investments by\u00a0SPARX Group<\/a>,\u00a0Intel Capital<\/a>,\u00a0Capricorn Investment Group<\/a>,\u00a0JetBlue Technology Ventures<\/a>,\u00a08VC<\/a>,\u00a0Toyota AI Ventures<\/a>, and\u00a0AME Cloud Ventures<\/a>, the latest investment round brings Joby Aviation\u2019s total funding to $720 million \u2013 making it the best-funded electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) start-up globally.<\/p>\n

The move is in line with Abdul Latif Jameel\u2019s strategy of making high-stakes investments in the future of mobility.
