Fotowatio Renewable Ventures (FRV<\/a>), a company of Abdul Latif Jameel Energy<\/a>, and a leading global developer of renewable utility-scale projects, has announced the achievement of commercial operations of a 50 MW dc solar plant, known as La Solanilla<\/a>. After producing its first kWh in 2019, La Solanilla will now generate approximately 103 GWh in clean energy, which will supply approximately 35,000 Spanish homes and will avoid the emission of approximately 72,000 tons of CO2<\/sub> annually.<\/p>\n

The project\u2019s location in Trujillo, 50 km from C\u00e1ceres, in the Spanish region of Extremadura, is key for FRV due to its wealth of natural resources and the company\u2019s track record in the area. Following a visit to the solar farm in January, Extremadura\u2019s Minister for Ecological Transition and Sustainability, Olga Garcia said:<\/p>\n

\u201cThanks to projects such as ‘La Solanilla’, Extremadura is at the forefront of solar energy<\/a> production and is becoming increasingly competitive in the renewable energy space.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

La Solanilla is a new addition to FRV\u2019s expansion plans.\u00a0 The project makes a significant contribution to the socio-economic development of the area by fostering local job creation and education. During the construction phase, approximately 350 jobs were created, some of which have been maintained now that the plant is operational. Furthermore, as part of FRV\u2019s social commitment to the communities in which it operates, FRV awarded a new \u2018Young Talented Leaders\u2019 Scholarship last year for this project in collaboration with the IE Foundation<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Fady Jameel<\/a>, Deputy President and Vice Chairman of Abdul Latif Jameel, said:<\/p>\n
