{"id":82666,"date":"2020-12-29T07:38:16","date_gmt":"2020-12-29T07:38:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.alj.com\/?post_type=news&#038;p=82666"},"modified":"2022-05-05T06:42:14","modified_gmt":"2022-05-05T06:42:14","slug":"abdul-latif-jameel-energy-closes-years-third-financial-agreement-in-australia-through-new-green-finance","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/alj.com\/en\/news\/abdul-latif-jameel-energy-closes-years-third-financial-agreement-in-australia-through-new-green-finance\/","title":{"rendered":"Abdul Latif Jameel Energy closes year\u2019s third financial agreement in Australia through new Green Finance"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li>115 MWac Metz Solar Farm will produce enough clean energy to supply up to 40,000 homes in New South Wales and avoid the emission of approximately 288,000 tons of CO2 annually<\/li>\n<li>This is the third financial close of Abdul Latif Jameel Energy and FRV in Australia this year<\/li>\n<li>The project is Abdul Latif Jameel Energy and FRV\u2019s eighth solar farm in the country for a total of 650MW owned projects solar portfolio<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.alj.com\/en\/energy-and-environmental-services\/energy-overview\/\">Abdul Latif Jameel Energy<\/a>, through leading global developer of renewable utility-scale projects Fotowatio Renewable Ventures (<a href=\"https:\/\/frv.com\">FRV<\/a>), closed the financing agreement for the 115 MWac <a href=\"http:\/\/sebastopolsolarfarm.com\/\">Metz<\/a> Solar Farm.\u00a0 The funding is provided by Westpac and Nord\/NLB in the form of a Green Finance compliant with the Loan Market Association Green Loan Principles and the Green Projects requirements. This is the second green loan of FRV in Australia and among one of the first <a href=\"https:\/\/alj.com\/en\/energy-and-environmental-services\/energy-overview\/\">renewable energy<\/a> project financing of this type in the country. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>FRV completed the acquisition of the Project in November this year. The project is underpinned by a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.snowyhydro.com.au\/\">Snowy Hydro<\/a>, signed in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Located in the New England region of New South Wales near Hillgrove, 20 km east of Armidale, the plant will connect to the national grid and generate enough power to supply up to 40,000 Australian households each year; more than half of the total 66,000 households in the region.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, it is estimated that the annual greenhouse gas emissions avoided by the project will be 288,000 tonnes of CO<sub>2<\/sub> equivalent.<\/p>\n<p>Metz Solar Farm will deliver significant benefits to the Armidale area and the wider community with the creation of direct jobs throughout each stage of the project&#8217;s life cycle.\u00a0 During the construction period it is estimated that the project could provide jobs for up to 100 workers over the course of a year.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Metz Solar Farm will bring FRV\u2019s Australian operating and in construction solar projects to eight, of which four are in New South Wales, including <a href=\"http:\/\/moreesolarfarm.com.au\/\">Moree<\/a> (56 MWac) and <a href=\"http:\/\/goonumblasolarfarm.com\/\">Goonumbla<\/a> (69.75 MWac) in operation and <a href=\"http:\/\/sebastopolsolarfarm.com\/\">Sebastopol<\/a> (90 MWac) under construction.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/au.linkedin.com\/in\/carlofrigerio\">Carlo Frigerio<\/a>, Managing Director of FRV in Australia, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>&#8220;We are delighted to see Metz Solar Farm
