noreferrer\">International Mother Earth Day<\/a>, Abdul Latif Jameel is aligning with the United Nations\u2019 call to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.harmonywithnatureun.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">promote harmony with nature and the Earth<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/0YCecnQ_ZZA\" width=\"560\" height=\"314\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Now is the time to adopt a different mindset to ensure we pass on a world that is truly worth saving to future generations.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cWe must act decisively to protect our planet from both the coronavirus and the existential threat of climate disruption\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Antonio Guterres, UN Secretary-General<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>It\u2019s clear in the last year that the overriding topic of conversation, focus and concern is COVID-19 and the aftermath of a global health pandemic.\u00a0 One of the not-so-obvious problems with crises like this is that they take your eye off the ball when it comes to the pressing issues facing our planet today.<\/p>\n<p>The accelerating threat of climate change is suffering a dangerous relegation from a position of \u2018too big to ignore\u2019\u2026 to \u2018we\u2019re too busy to tackle this\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Today, on International Mother Earth Day (April 22, 2021), it is an appropriate time to remind ourselves that we need a shift to a more sustainable economy that works for both people . . .<br \/>\nand planet.\u00a0 At Abdul Latif Jameel, we are aligning with the United Nations\u2019 call to promote harmony with nature and the Earth.<\/p>\n<p>The pandemic poses huge public health and economic risks, but climate change has the power to do even greater harm.<\/p>\n<p>Displacing hundreds of millions of people, rendering large swathes of our world uninhabitable, driving mass migration and even conflict, and costing multiple trillions of dollars to rectify.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u00a0\u201cWe will not be able to avoid the devastating tipping points that would shatter the global economy and pose <strong>existential human threats<\/strong>.\u00a0 The costs of inaction are staggering \u2013 <strong>US$ 600 trillion<\/strong> by the end of the century.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Christiana Figueres, Former UN Climate Change Head<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Now is the time to adopt a different mindset: long-term thinking for long-term rewards.\u00a0 Post-pandemic economic stimulus and investment, with sustainable and environmentally aligned priorities are the only ways to guarantee we can pass on to future generations a world that is truly worth
