{"id":92673,"date":"2021-09-29T07:44:24","date_gmt":"2021-09-29T07:44:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.alj.com\/?post_type=news&#038;p=92673"},"modified":"2022-05-10T10:00:55","modified_gmt":"2022-05-10T10:00:55","slug":"touring-the-shuqaiq-3-iwp-with-luis-morales","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/alj.com\/en\/news\/touring-the-shuqaiq-3-iwp-with-luis-morales\/","title":{"rendered":"Touring the Shuqaiq 3 IWP with Luis Morales"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As part of our Showcase Series of interviews with the people involved in the US$ 600 million Shuqaiq 3 Independent Water Project (IWP), we return to the Saudi Arabian construction site to talk to Luis Morales, Technical Director at the plant.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/oS5w15xO8B0\" width=\"560\" height=\"314\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>With construction well underway, Luis discusses the complexities of the development in this new video, specifically the Reverse Osmosis (RO) process.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He offers viewers an exclusive insight into how one of the largest desalination plants in the world will soon be fully operational, using more than 7,000 reverse osmosis pressure vessels, equivalent to 54 kilometers, with more than 45,000 membranes working simultaneously to produce more than 18 million liters of pure water per hour.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s 450,000 cubic meters per day, or around 180 Olympic size swimming pools.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-92154\" src=\"https:\/\/www.alj.com\/app\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Luis-Morales-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1707\" srcset=\"https:\/\/media.alj.com\/app\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Luis-Morales-scaled.jpg 2560w, https:\/\/media.alj.com\/app\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Luis-Morales-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/media.alj.com\/app\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Luis-Morales-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/media.alj.com\/app\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Luis-Morales-150x100.jpg 150w, https:\/\/media.alj.com\/app\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Luis-Morales-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/media.alj.com\/app\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Luis-Morales-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/media.alj.com\/app\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Luis-Morales-2048x1365.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 2560px) 100vw, 2560px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Located on the Red Sea coast of Saudi Arabia, Shuqaiq 3 is being developed by a consortium including Abdul Latif Jameel Energy\u2019s water solutions company, <a href=\"https:\/\/almarwater.com\/\">Almar Water Solutions<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/alj-enterprises.com\/\">Abdul Latif Jameel Enterprises<\/a>; the project has already <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alj.com\/en\/news\/shuqaiq-3-receives-contract-of-the-year-award\/\">won awards<\/a> as recognition of the importance of the project in the area.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Shuqaiq 3 will supply drinking water to over 1.8 million people over 25 years, as well as provide water for agriculture and industry, bringing us one step closer to providing clean safe drinking water to those facing water scarcity.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":92161,"template":"","tags":[],"newscategory":[150],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v21.5 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>Shuqaiq 3 IWP Tour With Luis Morales | Abdul Latif Jameel\u00ae<\/title>\n<meta name=\"description\" content=\"Luis Morales, the Technical Director of the Shuqaiq 3 Independent Water Project, gives a tour of the plant while discussing its complexities.
