Saudi motorsport icon Yazeed AlRajhi has marked his comeback from an accident at the Sharqiyah Baja with a podium finish at the Andalucía Rally, the first round of the 2021 FIA World Cup for Cross Country Rallies, 12-16 May, 2021.

Driving a modified Toyota Hilux emblazoned with Abdul Latif Jameel Motors branding, Yazeed and his German co-driver Dirk von Zitzewitz took third place in the hotly contested rally, completing four stages in 10 hours, 34 minutes and 15 seconds, over a distance of 1,473 km.

Speaking about the achievement, Yazeed said:

“I’m happy that we’ve finished on the podium, third overall.  It was four challenging days full of excitement.  I’ve really enjoyed this rally, and it worked like a training and qualification race for me to make a stronger comeback in the next rallies.”

Yazeed and his team Yazeed Racing have a well-established, strong relationship with Abdul Latif Jameel Motors who support his illustrious motorsport career as he competes on the world stage.

Nasser Saleh Al-Attiyah (QAT) and Matthieu Baumel (FRA) took first place in the rally, driving a Toyota Hilux Overdrive, while second place was secured by Carlos Sainz (ESP) and Lucas Cruz (ESP) in a MINI John Cooper Works Rally.

This year, the FIA World Cup for Cross-Country Rallies has an extended calendar, taking contenders around the globe for spectacular action over a diverse range of terrain.  The next encounter takes place at Rally Kazakhstan, 7-13 June, followed by the Silk Way Rally in Russia in July.
