His Royal Highness, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, concluded the Saudi Cup on Saturday, February 26, 2022 – the world’s richest horse race – at King Abdulaziz Racecourse, Riyadh.

The closing ceremony event was the highlight of the third edition of the Saudi Cup, organized by The Jockey Club of Saudi Arabia (JCSA), that saw a thrilling second day race card that ended the two-day international racing festival in sensational style.

Packed stands at the King Abdulaziz Racecourse enjoyed an afternoon and evening of high quality racing featuring a mix of the world’s best horses and jockeys, alongside locally bred and featured talent, with the participation of 16 countries and 240 horses  The race completed a spectacular weekend two-day festival of racing with the meeting offering total prize money of US$ 35.1 million.

On the second day, at the end of the races, His Royal Highness, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz presented the coveted Saudi Cup to home-owned and trained Emblem Road who won against a world-class international field of thoroughbreds to edge out a thrilling race in front of jubilant home fans at the King Abdulaziz Racecourse in Riyadh.

This year’s edition hosted the Obaiya Arabian Classic Group 2, presented by Lexus, Dirt over 2000m with a prize of US$ 2 million.  Hadi De Carrere, ridden by Olivier Peslier and owned by Khalifa bin Sheail Al Kuwari, won the race and was crowned by Raad Al Saady, Vice President Mobility, Abdul Latif Jameel.

Al Saady expressed his happiness at Abdul Latif Jameel Motors’ presence as a platinum partner for this global event, which has now firmly established its position at the very forefront of the world’s annual horse racing calendar and is also one of the key social and sporting occasions on the growing agenda of events in the Kingdom.
