Esther Duflo, a leading economist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and co-founder of the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) is recognized on International Women’s Day by the The Nobel Prize as a remarkable female Nobel Laureate, and a ‘woman who changed the world‘.

Esther was awarded the Prize in Economic Sciences in 2019 for her work fighting poverty; she was the second woman and youngest person to achieve this. Speaking about the Prize, she commented:

“I’ve never felt that being a women was a problem in my profession, but I did feel isolated in my field. So as a woman it’s an honour to receive this prize.”
