Saudi rally champion and Jameel Motorsport ambassador Yazeed Al Rajhi is taking on a new challenge in the BP Ultimate Rally-Raid, part of the W2RC, currently taking place in Portugal.

Running until April 7, the rally promises unforgettable moments for cars and motorbikes on the Portuguese and Spanish roads – the only stage of the W2RC held in Europe this year.  Organized by the ACP – Automovel Club de Portugal, the race covers a course of 1,000 km of technical roads with varied types of terrain – vast sandy beaches of the Alentejo coast to well-trodden roads of Ribatejo, as well as the rockier part of the Spanish Extremadura.

Al Rajhi is taking part with German co-driver Timo Gottschalk, to his right in the cockpit of his Overdrive Racing Toyota Hilux Evo T1 Ultimate, as they battle to defend his team’s colors.

Al Rajhi expressed his commitment to the event, saying: “We are ready to participate in the third round of the W2RC.  The round is new for all of us, despite my participation in Baja Portugal in the FIA World Baja Cup Rally, but this region is considered completely new, and we have not passed through it before.

“The competition will be intense and strong due to the return of Spanish matador Carlos Sainz, winner of this year’s Dakar Rally, and we must focus on the appropriate strategies for these tracks.”

“Timo and I are looking forward to a fierce competition with our fellow racers.  The competition atmosphere will be similar to the Dakar Rally, but with completely different tracks. We are ready.  We have the best car and the best team we can have.”

Al Rajhi also extended his special thanks to strategic partner, Abdul Latif Jameel Motors Saudi Arabia, for their support and sponsorship during his participation in rallies at the global, regional and local levels.
