FRV Australia’s largest solar farm now fully operational
- Walla Walla is a 300MWac large-scale Solar Farm located in NSW; it is FRV Australia’s largest project to date.
- The project supports NSW’s renewable energy goals and created up to 350 construction jobs boosting investment in the local economy.
- FRV Australia signed a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Microsoft.
Fotowatio Renewable Ventures (FRV) Australia, a leading developer of sustainable energy solutions, and part of Jameel Energy and the Canadian infrastructure fund OMERS, has announced the completion of the 300 MWac Walla Walla Solar Farm, the largest project in FRV Australia’s portfolio and a major milestone in the company’s renewable energy ambitions.
Located in the Riverina region of NSW, the project plays a critical role in meeting the State Government’s renewable energy targets. It is one of the largest solar projects in the state contributing significantly to the local economy. During construction, the Walla Walla Solar Farm created up to 350 jobs, stimulating regional employment and local services.
Before the start of its construction, FRV Australia signed a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Microsoft to supply renewable energy from the solar farm to the electricity grid.
Walla Walla Solar Farm extends for 605 hectares and will produce enough clean energy to power around 90,000 Australian homes annually. It represents the eighth operational project that is part of FRV Australia’s portfolio. Together, these projects have now a total power capacity of 993MW.
This milestone reflects FRV Australia’s continued growth and leadership in the renewable energy sector. Earlier this year, the company announced the acquisition of the 190 MW Axedale Hybrid Solar & Battery Storage Project and is currently constructing the 100 MW / 200 MWh Terang Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Victoria.
Carlo Frigerio, CEO of FRV Australia said:
“Walla Walla is our largest project in Australia and a strong demonstration of our commitment to the country’s renewable energy goals. It reflects the capability of our team to deliver complex infrastructure and the strength of our partnerships with global leaders like Microsoft.”
The EPC contractor for the construction of Walla Walla Solar Farm was Gransolar.
