Abdul Latif Jameel and Toyota: sixty years of service to the community
- Celebration marks 60th anniversary of prestigious Toyota partnership in the Saudi automotive market
Abdul Latif Jameel celebrated the 60th anniversary of its prestigious partnership with Toyota Motor Corporation with a special event held in Jeddah, in the presence of senior officials from both companies, dealers of Abdul Latif Jameel, and media representatives.
In a speech marking the occasion, Mohammed Abdul Latif Jameel, Chairman and President of Abdul Latif Jameel, welcomed the guests and spoke about the history of the long-standing partnership between Abdul Latif Jameel and Toyota.
“This relationship started over sixty years ago when my late father, Abdul Latif Jameel, turned a petrol station that he owned on the old Makkah road in Jeddah into the first car showroom. This marked the entry of Toyota into the Saudi market, which became a starting point for its continued innovation over the past six decades, allowing it to take a prime position in Saudi Arabia’s automotive sector.”
“My father started his business activity in the automotive industry with four multiuse cars. Sixty years later, we see millions of Toyota vehicles traveling through the streets of the Kingdom. Not only do Toyota owners feel they are driving an exceptional vehicle that is designed to be driven on all kinds of terrains, they are also confident in their investment because a Toyota vehicle retains its value if ever they want to resell it,” added Mohammed Abdul Latif Jameel.
Highlighting the deep-rooted and enduring relationship between Abdul Latif Jameel and Toyota, Mohammed Abdul Latif Jameel said: “Today, we celebrate our extraordinary and fruitful relationship which has extended over sixty years; a partnership borne out of a shared vision and culture, a tremendous amount of mutual respect, and extraordinary results and exceptional returns that further bolster and strengthen our relationship. We are overcome with enthusiasm and joy as we mark this significant milestone of a sixty-year journey between Abdul Latif Jameel and Toyota, and we look forward to continued prosperity for our longstanding relationship.”
“One of the most important factors contributing to this success has been the unconditional support provided by the government of King Salman bin AbdulAziz, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, HRH Crown Prince Muqrin bin AbdulAziz, and HRH Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif bin Abdul Aziz, to the private sector, and their keenness to develop the Saudi economy to become one of the most important economies in the world today,” added Mohammed Abdul Latif Jameel.
Mohammed Abdul Latif Jameel also paid rich tributes to the Saudi armed forces and troops deployed to defend Saudi Arabia’s borders, praying to the Almighty to bestow his mercy on the martyrs, to bless the wounded with recovery, and to help the Saudi heroes persevere and gain victory against their enemies.
He went on to say that “Toyota Motor Corporation’s continuous backing and unwavering support towards our development has had a great impact on the success of this relationship throughout all these years. Toyota has always provided us with the incentive and motivation to continuously reach greater heights and achieve better results, while always upholding its core philosophy that the customer always comes first and foremost.”
Mohammed Abdul Latif Jameel also extended his thanks and appreciation to the generations that worked for the Company over the past sixty years and to the tens of thousands of employees who contributed to Abdul Latif Jameel reaching a prime market position today, not only in Saudi Arabia’s automotive sector, but also in the domain of community initiatives, through which the Company strives to serve the Saudi society wherever it operates.
He emphasized the important role that customer confidence and loyalty has played over the years in building the Company’s reputation and prominent stature. Mohammed Abdul Latif Jameel added that the Company’s firm belief in the importance of constantly developing this trust and deepening its relationship with its customers has been a key driver of its success.
He also expressed that it was important on this special occasion to stress that Abdul Latif Jameel will continue to adhere to its ‘customer first’ philosophy, which will remain a core principle and guiding value across all the Company’s activities.
It is noteworthy that one of the key features that distinguish the relationship between Toyota and Abdul Latif Jameel is that they both aspire to a cleaner, less polluted world, in which smarter transportation prevails and driving becomes safer through improved design, performance and maintenance.
Abdul Latif Jameel’s endeavours continue to provide a positive and tangible impact on Saudi society in ways that go beyond transport and which extend to making the world a better, safer and healthier place.
Over the past sixty years, Abdul Latif Jameel has become the embodiment of “The Toyota Way,” paving the way for their relationship to flourish and prosper, and for Abdul Latif Jameel to become one of the leading companies in the Saudi automotive sector, in addition to being one of the world’s largest independent distributors of Toyota vehicles.
