The country’s first commercial cinema in 35 years opened on Wednesday last week, showcasing Marvel’s blockbuster superhero film to government officials, dignitaries and select industry figures.

The evening was sponsored by Abdul Latif Jameel Motors Lexus. The screenings mark another milestone under social and economic reforms spearheaded by HH the Crown Prince as part of Saudi Vision 2030. Saudi Arabia plans to open nearly 350 locations with more than 2,500 screens, by 2030 hoping to attract around US$1 billion in annual ticket sales.
