Abdul Latif Jameel Motors Saudi Arabia is dedicated to enhancing the skills and expertise of its Associates, and for almost two decades it has provided a unique opportunity for candidates to work in Japan through the Toyota Intra-Company Training (ICT) Program.

In a new series of videos, we hear from Associates who have experienced new cultures, workplaces, languages, and environments to develop their personal and professional lives.

Hisham Mohammed Al Ewidi, General Manager Brand Commercial Vehicles, Abdul Latif Jameel Motors Saudi Arabia – Toyota talks about his excitement at joining the program and his first impressions of Tokyo’s towering skylines.

He says:

“My daily routine in Japan is very different from my routine in Saudi Arabia.  In Japan, I wake up very early to catch the train to Toyota Motor Corporation Head Office.  Then I spend the day in my office, having meetings with my colleagues at Toyota.  After that, I head to the Japanese Language Academy, because I would like to learn Japanese to be able to communicate better with my colleagues at Toyota and with the Japanese community in general.”

Throughout the program, participants delve into Japanese culture while also expand their knowledge of the ‘Toyota Way’ and ‘Kaizen’ philosophy for continuous improvement.

The program also offers training courses covering various areas such as marketing, supply chain management, and spare parts services.

This experience has qualified some of Abdul Latif Jameel Motors’ leaders and has helped develop the skills of future leaders, in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, to strengthen the national workforce and enhance their capabilities.

Hisham adds:

“Tokyo is a big city, and I would like to visit many places in it. One of my favorite areas is Omotesando, a beautiful area with many restaurants, shops, and cafes. Also, I enjoyed the world-famous crosswalk in Shibuya, which is always crowded and full of life.

“One of the things I aspire to do upon my return to Saudi Arabia is to benefit my colleagues by sharing the experiences I gained in Japan, whether from working at Toyota or from the Japanese culture.

“I would like to thank Abdul Latif Jameel Motors for this unique opportunity to experience working at Toyota Motor Corporation in Japan, and I am proud to be part of the Abdul Latif Jameel Motors family.”
